Best Chiropractor Hughes Comprehensive Chiropractic Clinic
A chiropractor in Jackson for 37 years, Dr. Michael Hughes has provided pain relief from accidents, sports injuries and muscle strains to four generations of families. At 67, the former Army Airborne soldier and Vietnam veteran is described by patients and staff as a doctor, counselor and teacher.
What’s important to Dr. Hughes is that patients look forward to their visits, get relief from pain, learn how to better care for themselves, and laugh a little to release their body’s feel-good chemicals.
One of 15 brothers and sisters, Dr. Hughes graduated from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa.
Congratulations to Dr. Hughes and the staff of Hughes Comprehensive Chiropractic Clinic!
Best Diner Roxy Café
In 1976, a then 21-year-old Jim Sarata purchased Roxy Café from previous owners. He had never cooked breakfast before, so the owners took time to show him the ropes. Now, 40 years later, Jim’s daughter, Sabrina Sarata, is running the business.
Upon her father’s death in 2014, Sabrina took over operations of Roxy Café with the help of two of her sisters. She says the menu has remained the same since the passing of her dad, and the customer base he built remains loyal.
Roxy Café features daily breakfast and lunch specials. Customers have said they love the look of the menu, as it is filled with jokes, something that Jim did decades ago. Omelets are a customer favorite, and Sabrina said the café offers more than 20 varieties.
Congratulations to Roxy Cafe!
Best High School Mascot Lumen Christi Titans
When St. John and St. Mary schools merged in the late 1960s, students from the two schools voted on the mascot for Lumen Christi High School. The students chose the Titan for its portrayal of strength.
The Lumen Christi Titan can be seen at many sporting events hanging around the student section to get the students fired up. The mascot also has a profound effect on many future Titans, as he travels to Queen of the Miraculous Medal, St. John, and St. Mary Elementary schools to pay a visit to enthusiastic young students. According to Lumen Christi principal Christopher Smith, students of all ages love the Titan.
Congratulations to the Lumen Christi Titans!
