Concord is located in western Jackson County along M-60. This picturesque town consists of well cared for 100-year old buildings, including three – the Paddock-Hubbard House, the Mann House and the Concord Universalist Church – that have been recognized with Michigan Historical Markers.

Concord rests on the Kalamazoo River. It functions primarily as a commuter town to Jackson, about 10 miles to the east, but is also supported by a few local businesses and manufacturing. Many of the businesses have been family-owned for generations.

Concord was first settled by William Van Fossen in 1832 when he built the first house here. He named the area Van Fossenville, but he officially named it Concord when he applied for a post office. It was incorporated as a village in 1871.
