Hanover

Hanover is located in southwestern Jackson County in Hanover Township. It was settled by Henry Wickman in 1836 who moved here from Hanover, Germany. Hanover was incorporated as a village in 1885. Today, Hanover retains its small-town atmosphere. The local economy is supported by the small businesses that dot the main street area.

Among the locally-owned businesses are a small grocery, a hardware store, an insurance agency, a pub and hair salons. The location of the village also makes it a commuter town to Jackson, which is 12 miles to the northeast. It has its own school system, which is shared with neighboring Horton, and a village form of government. The Conklin Reed Organ and History Museum is home to approximately 120 antique organs, each unique and in playable condition. The adjacent Heritage Park hosts a number of community festivals each year, including the popular Rust ‘N Dust Days each August.
