Top Teachers
About the Awards
Each year, Jackson Magazine honors outstanding educators from across Jackson County through the Top Teachers program. These individuals are recognized for their dedication, innovation, and positive impact on students, schools, and the community.
Educators are nominated by students, parents, colleagues, and community members who witness the difference they make every day. Final honorees are selected based on their instructional practices, classroom culture, ability to meet diverse student needs, innovation, leadership, and professional involvement.
Educators will be recognized as Top Teachers, with one receiving the distinguished title of Teacher of the Year, featured in our May 2026 issue following a careful, committee-led review and classroom observation process.
If you know a teacher who goes above and beyond, we encourage you to submit a nomination.
In 2026, there will be a monetary award given to the Teacher of the Year and each Top Teacher will receive a classroom mini grant. The award amounts are subject to change based on funding support.
Top Teacher Requirements:
- Be currently employed as a full-time teacher in a K-12 classroom in a Jackson County, MI school.
- Have completed a minimum of five years of classroom teaching under either a Standard Teaching or ACA License prior to the school year in which the award is given.
