Dr. Rebekah Woods Elected to American 1 Credit Union Board


JACKSON, MI – Dr. Rebekah Woods, Provost for Jackson College of Jackson, MI, was elected for a three-year term to the Board of Directors of American 1 Credit Union. Woods was elected at the Credit Union’s 67th Annual Meeting on August 15, 2017.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial institutions whose board members are democratically elected volunteers. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Woods to our Board of Directors. Her diverse career path will serve the credit union and its members very well,” commented Senator Philip E. Hoffman, American 1 Credit Union Board Chairman. Woods has over 20 years’ experience in higher education administration, preceded by a successful law career in the public service arena. “Dr. Woods is an exceptional fit with the American 1 CU philosophy of giving back to the community because of her work in public service, public higher education, as well as her extensive non-profit leadership resume,” continued Hoffman. Dr. Woods holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership and a Juris Doctor from Regent University in Virginia. She completed her undergraduate work in psychology at Albion College. She is active in the community currently serving as a member of the Women’s Leadership Council for the United Way, 100+ Women Who Care, the Board of Directors for the Jackson College Foundation and the Board of Governors for Jackson Preparatory & Early College. Established in 1950, American 1 Credit Union today serves over 56,000 members with branches in Jackson, Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Calhoun, Macomb and Wayne Counties.
