Get ready for Paws in the Park

MAY 15, 2018 - Cascades Humane Society is busy preparing for Paws in the Park, one of its biggest fundraisers of the year. This is a dog walk-a-thon through Cascades Falls Park on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

This year the Carnival theme continues complete with carnival games, a dunk tank, balloon twisting, professional face painting, and 3 free performances by the Detroit Circus. “We are excited to have the Detroit Circus performers back, doing their juggling, stilts work, and acrobatics. We hope everyone will stay after the walk to watch one of their free performances” says Heather Leszczynski, Executive Director. In addition to the carnival atmosphere, this family friendly event also includes lots of vendors to shop, food for purchase courtesy of the Jackson Breakfast Rotary, and a human-dog photo booth.

The day starts at 9am with registration opening, and shortly following that the fun at the dunk tank begins featuring celebrity participants, such as Jackson Mayor, Derek Dobies. The walk begins at 10am, but just before that, fundraising teams and CHS alumni are invited for a commemorative photo in front of the balloon arch (the traditional start of the walk). CHS alumni are asked to identify themselves at registration so they can receive a fun doggie bandana. A doggie costume competition is slated for 10:45am, directly following the walk. There will be celebrity judges appointing the top three costumes and then the audience will decide the overall winner of a prize pack.

Community members are encouraged to create a fundraising page when they register for the event. The fundraising pages can be customized with pictures of their pets and why they love animals and CHS. Top fundraisers receive a new and improved goodie bag this year and the highest fundraiser gets honored at the event with a trophy and free CHS jacket or sweatshirt they can pick out afterwards. Families, groups of friends, co-workers, and businesses can register as a team also, and compete to be the highest fundraising team. The winning team will be recognized at Paws in the Park with a trophy and receives a free pizza party at CHS and a tour of the facility.

Registration is open and is $25 for adults and $15 for children until May 19. After that the registration is $30 for adults and $20 for children. Registration includes a free Paws in the Park T-shirt. Go tohttp://chspets.com/paws-park-2018/ to learn more or to register.
