Pure Michigan Business Connect offering up to $1 million in grants to manufacturers looking to retool and produce critical service supplies


Michigan’s small business manufacturers looking to produce critical health and human service supplies can now apply for up to $150,000 in grants through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s PMBC COVID-19 Emergency Access & Retooling Program. The newly launched grant program will provide up to $1 million in grants to Michigan’s manufacturers that can quickly and effectively retool and produce critical supplies in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Do you have the capability to produce critical health & human service supplies, but need assistance in scaling or purchasing equipment? Pure Michigan Business Connect is providing grant assistance to help companies or non-profits begin or ramp up production of critical supplies across a broad range of product categories.

Products may include, but aren’t limited to:

Eyewear

Face Shield

Gloves

Gowns

Hand Sanitizer

Hospital beds

N95 Masks

No-touch thermometers

Surgical Masks

Testing Supplies

Ventilators

Wipes

Eligibility

Michigan companies must meet the following criteria to qualify for PMBC Emergency Access & Retooling Grants:

Be in accordance with Small Business Administration (SBA) size standards  or be an established non-profit entity

Be in good standing with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)

Provide an EIN number linked to a Michigan address

Ability to begin manufacturing product within 30 days of award

Be a registered State of Michigan SIGMA vendor. Please refer to https://sigma.michigan.gov/webapp/PRDVSS2X1/AltSelfService  if you need to complete registration

Eligible Use of Funds

Procuring necessary equipment to manufacture critical supplies

Logistics/Shipping costs of procuring necessary equipment

Technological upgrades

Other costs related to operationalizing new production lines

Grant Award

Grants of $10,000 – $150,000 per entity. Total allocation by MEDC for this program is $1,000,000.

Eligible applications will be reviewed by the panel within 48 hours, based on the following scoring criteria:

Ability to Execute Project

Need for Financial Assistance

Timeliness

Product Need in Market

Economic Impact

Funding level will be determined at the discretion of the review panel based on the entity’s submission and overall availability of funds. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until funds are completely expended.
