The Lost Railway Museum receives a grant from Consumers Energy Foundation

JUNE 4, 2018 – The Lost Railway Museum received a $25,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation. These funds will support the continued restoration of Interurban Car #29 and Car #47, development of educational programs and marketing the museum to the community. The museum welcomed its 5,000th guest since its opening in July 2017.

Most Interurban systems started in the late 19th century and only operated until the late 1920’s. A very short lifespan for such a significant industry that grew quickly and died just as fast. Most people alive today have never heard of the Interurban system. It is the Lost Railway.

“The Lost Railway Museum Board of Directors, the committee and the many volunteers are incredibly grateful to have been awarded this grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation”. Said Phil Willis, Chair of the Lost Railway Board of Directors.

Consumers Energy Foundation awards grants for capital funding and innovative projects and campaigns that align with our four focus areas: Social welfare, education, community, civic and cultural development and the environment.
