WALBERG APPLAUDS $6 MILLION GRANT FOR JACKSON TECHNOLOGY PARK NORTH

Jackson, MI – Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) applauded the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) announcement of a $5,918,000 grant awarded to Jackson County. The funding, made available through the CARES Act Recovery Assistance program, will help complete infrastructure projects at Jackson Technology Park North, an industrial development located in Blackman Charter Township.

“I am encouraged that the CARES Act continues to make a positive impact in Michigan’s 7th District. These federal resources will help strengthen Jackson County’s infrastructure and lead to greater job growth and economic activity in our community,” said Congressman Walberg. “I am grateful to the Enterprise Group of Jackson for their leadership on this project and dedication to boosting our local economy.”

“The Enterprise Group, along with our partners at Blackman Charter Township, and its Local Development Finance Authority, and the Jackson County Department of Transportation, have been working for the past 24 months on the expansion of the Jackson Technology park. This $5.9 million EDA grant, along with $1.5 million from Blackman Township, will provide the infrastructure for a shovel-ready industrial park to meet the needs of new and expanding manufacturers in Jackson County. The new park will provide for technology-based manufacturing jobs for the people in and around Jackson County,” said Tim Rogers, President and CEO of The Enterprise Group of Jackson, Inc.

These roads, sidewalk, water, and sewer infrastructure improvements will help provide more developable acreage for new and expanding technology and manufacturing businesses in the Jackson County region. The project, to be matched with $1.5 million in local funds, is expected to create 40 jobs, retain 136 jobs and generate $4 million in private investment.
