The Board of Directors of WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging has named Kara Lorenz-Goings the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective May 1, 2025. Kara succeeds Julie Wetherby who has served as the Agency’s CEO since 2015.
Kara has been at WellWise Services for 11 years. She is a licensed social worker, is certified in Geriatric Care Management, and certified in Project Management for nonprofits. Her professional career has included work as the Deputy Director at the Jackson Department on Aging, work in Long Term Supports and Services for over 20 years, consulting for nursing facilities, and most recently, she served as the agency’s Chief Operating Officer. Kara currently serves on the Brooklyn Food Pantry Board, Irish Hills Community Chest Board, and the Brooklyn Corridor Improvement Authority. Kara is an active partner in statewide Area Agency on Aging initiatives.
Kara and her husband, a Jackson Police Officer, live in the Brooklyn area. They have six children and enjoy the local lakes, outdoor summer and winter sports, and traveling.
