Believing a better world starts in your own back yard, The BenjaMen of Jackson was founded by a group of friends in 2016 to encourage local men to give back to their community. Meeting quarterly, the goal has always been the same; to band together and combine resources with other caring men of the community in order to donate $10,000 to an agreed upon local organization. The name The BenjaMen comes from the only prerequisite for membership being a $100 donation per man (a “Benjamin”) from 100 men four times per year. Staying true to their mission of “Local Men. Local Impact.” to date, the group has raised and donated $305,124.82 to 25 local organizations in a wide range of missions from food pantries to elder care, and at-risk student initiatives. The BenjaMen are supported by several local businesses known as “Patriot Sponsors” who make a standing $250 quarterly donation to the organization. Their next meeting is December 5th at Ogma Brewing Co. in downtown Jackson at 6:00PM. Membership and donation inquiries can be made at www.thebenjamen.org.
